Kameleo 5.3 routes QUIC and WebRTC UDP traffic through a SOCKS5 proxy

In 5.3, HTTP/3 and QUIC traffic in Chroma 152+ is routed through SOCKS5 proxies. This mode can be enabled experimentally for WebRTC. Bugfix release 5.3.1 followed on September 30.

Kameleo 5.3.0 was released on September 28, 2026. Its main changes concern proxies.

Browsers do not route UDP through proxies by default, as Kameleo's documentation also acknowledges. As a result, WebRTC and HTTP/3 traffic running over QUIC on UDP can bypass the proxy and expose the real address. In 5.3, HTTP/3 and QUIC UDP traffic in Chroma 152 and later is routed through the profile's SOCKS5 proxy. The company explicitly says this is intended to prevent IP leaks. An experimental UDP tunnel through SOCKS5 was also added for WebRTC and must be enabled manually. The documentation did not explain how to do this as of October 9.

In 5.3, profile notes can also be edited without stopping the browser. Proxy IP-check failures were fixed, and on networks with both IPv4 and IPv6, the app now switches between protocols when a connection fails. An issue that prevented the team owner from saving group-sharing settings was fixed. The “What's New” window no longer opens blank, and logging out with profiles running no longer causes the app to hang.

Version 5.3.1 was released on September 30. It fixed an issue where Engine did not pick up appsettings.json overrides from the user settings folder in some environments.

What to do: Update to 5.3.1. Kameleo notes in its documentation that some proxy providers do not support UDP at all, so check with your provider.
