On November 3, ZennoLab released version 1.23.0 of ZennoBrowser. The headline change, according to the announcement on the zenno.club forum, is that Fingerprint 2.0 (FP2) is now available to all users: anyone can create and launch profiles with the new fingerprint generation system.
In the 1.21.0 announcement on October 1, the company said new features would initially roll out through early access, with a new fingerprint service first on the list. Two other features on that list, the trash and temporary profiles, arrived on October 15 in version 1.22.0. The 1.23.0 announcement does not explicitly say that FP2 is that service.
The release adds five API methods for FP2 profiles:
- Create a profile;
- Create profiles in bulk;
- Get profile information;
- Update profile parameters;
- List the parameters available for an FP2 profile.
The links to the method documentation in the announcement point to the local address localhost:8160. The release also updates the installer window and, according to the company, improves stability. The announcement says nothing about the browser engine: it was last updated on October 29, to Chromium 156 in version 1.22.2. The announcement does not mention pricing or plan restrictions for FP2.
Who this affects: Anyone who creates profiles through scripts. FP2 profiles can now be created and modified through the API, including in bulk.
