Afina will stop supporting versions earlier than 2.0.0 on August 1

After August 1, 2026, only Afina 2.0.0 and later will work. Browser engine 146 no longer works on versions below 2.0.0.

On May 8, the day Afina 2.0 was released, the company warned that it would stop supporting older versions of the software in three months. On May 29, it announced the exact date: as of August 1, 2026, only Afina 2.0.0 and later versions are officially supported and operational. The reminder was posted in the channel six more times, most recently on July 30.

Some restrictions took effect earlier. On May 9, Afina announced that engine 146, which it described at the time as the latest version, would not work on versions earlier than 2.0.0, and that stable operation on it would not be possible without updating the software. Later, in version 2.0.14, the engine was updated to Chromium 148.

This affects users who are still running versions earlier than 2.0.0. The new version is installed over the old one: download the installer from the website and install it, replacing the existing version. According to the company, on the first launch, data is automatically migrated to the Rust-based version, and the Unlimited plan remains active for users who purchased the software earlier. The channel did not contain a separate announcement confirming that the old versions had actually been disabled on August 1.
