On August 10, 2026, FlashID published the flashid-mcp package on npm. It is a Model Context Protocol server built on top of the local API. It connects to Claude Code, Codex, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and other MCP clients, allowing you to manage profiles using plain text prompts. The documentation example shows how to create an ecommerce tag, create three Windows 11 profiles with that tag, assign proxies to them, and open the first one.
The server includes 32 tools for managing profiles, tags, proxies, folders, the trash, and browser launches. Its code is open on GitHub under the MIT license. The latest npm version as of October 9 is 0.2.1. To use it, you need the FlashID client running with the Local API enabled, an API key, and Node.js 18 or later.
The agent can also delete profiles. The delete_profile tool only moves a profile to the trash, and you can restore it with restore_from_trash. The permanently_delete tool erases profiles permanently, either selected profiles from the trash or the entire trash at once. Its description explicitly states that the action cannot be undone, and both tools are marked as destructive for the MCP client using destructiveHint.
On August 17, profile tags were added to the client (v0.0.63). You can create tags, assign them when creating or editing a profile, and change them directly in the table. Tags were added to the Local API and the MCP server on the same day, in version 0.2.0.
