Virtual Camera in Nstbrowser: Profiles Can Feed MP4 Video to Websites

The April 16 Nstchrome 146 build introduced a virtual camera: instead of a real webcam, the profile presents a local MP4 file to the website.

On April 16, 2026, Nstbrowser released Nstchrome 146 (202604161200), along with client version 1.20.0. The kernel changelog lists two items: support for virtual cameras using MP4 video and fixes for known issues. It shows builds for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, as well as Linux. The Windows changelog already shows a later build of version 146, dated August 13, so the release date for the feature on Windows can’t be confirmed from the changelog.

A Virtual camera video option is now available in the browser settings. Turn it on and select a local video, and sites will receive that video instead of a webcam feed. You can select a file only in the desktop client; the web panel can’t access local file paths.

According to the interface tooltip, the feature requires kernel build 146 (202604141200) or later. It won’t be available in profiles running older kernels. The interface gives conflicting file size limits: the tooltip says “up to 200 MB,” while the error message says “no more than 50 MB.” To be safe, use a video under 50 MB.

To try it, update the client and the profile’s kernel to the latest build 146 or later. The client will prompt you to download a new kernel version. Then enable the virtual camera and restart the profile.
