ZennoBrowser Releases

ZennoBrowser did not launch for owners of 10,000+ profiles

Due to profile migration, ZennoBrowser crashed on launch with a Supervisor error. Hotfixes 1.17.1 and 1.17.2 were released over two days.

On July 22, ZennoLab released ZennoBrowser 1.17.1. The hotfix addressed the error “Supervisor doesn't return license info. Exception message: Host couldn't start for long time,” which prevented the program from launching. Users had to download the new version from their account and install it over the old one.

The hotfix didn’t help everyone. On July 23, support explained why: when there are too many profiles, they can’t finish migrating in time, causing startup to fail. As a temporary workaround, support suggested running the migration manually from the command line and waiting for it to finish for every profile. The wait depends on the number of profiles. According to support, one user with around 50,000 profiles waited just over two hours.

Version 1.17.2, which the team called “hotfix 2.0,” was released the same day. It should help users with more than 10,000 profiles who couldn’t launch ZennoBrowser. One affected user had waited over four hours for the migration, then reported that everything launched successfully after installing 1.17.2. The company didn’t say which version introduced the migration or how many users were affected. If you have a large number of profiles and are running a version earlier than 1.17.2, update.
