On October 14, RoxyBrowser released RoxyChrome 155, based on Chromium 155. The version list on the website shows builds for Windows, macOS (Intel and Apple), and Linux released on the same day. The kernel notes list four changes, all related to how websites work:
- native JPEG XL image decoding;
- automatic pausing of audio and video in hidden iframes so these players don’t use CPU and memory;
- window controls for web apps;
- post-quantum cryptography in WebCrypto.
In its blog, the company notes that a kernel update alone doesn’t give websites post-quantum protection; it all depends on how the site is built. The kernel notes don’t mention any fingerprint-related changes.
Client version 4.0.8 was released on October 15. The dashboard now includes proxy IP and browser fingerprint checks. The update also improves renewal management and expiration reminders, simplifies profile creation, and fixes time zone handling. The company doesn’t specify what changed with time zones.
Version 4.0.9 was released on October 23. The key change for users with many profiles: use “Window actions → Update kernel” to update several selected profiles at once to the latest kernel. RoxyBrowser calls profiles “windows.” The company also says it strengthened protection for kernels and local services, but provides no details.
What to do: Update the client to 4.0.9 and move your active profiles to kernel 155 in bulk.
