In May 2026, Kameleo released two new browser engines and several updates for them. Kameleo downloads the engines automatically and matches them to the browser’s major version in the profile fingerprint, so there’s no need to install them manually.
On May 4, Chroma 148, based on Chromium 148.0.7778.56, was released with Widevine support enabled in the Linux Docker image. On May 7, the company announced in Telegram that it already supported Chrome 148. On its browser engine release page, Kameleo promises to release Chroma no later than 5 days after a stable Chrome release, while Junglefox updates arrive every two months. On May 18, Junglefox 149, based on Firefox 149.0, was released, with Playwright 1.59.0 recommended for automation. This release also fixed the tray icon on macOS.
On May 26, the Chroma build for Linux was significantly reduced in size: it takes 2.6 times less disk space, and the download is half the size. The update also removed the unsupported command-line flag warning on Linux and upgraded Chroma to 148.0.7778.179 on all platforms. The Linux fixes were also backported to Chroma 145–147. On May 28, speech synthesis and WebGPU adapter masking were fixed on Linux.
Speech synthesis and Widevine were the two features that, by Kameleo’s own admission, did not work when the Linux image launched in April. Both were fixed in May.
